How to call the Philippines from the US

Start with +63 and leave out the domestic leading 0. A mobile number beginning 09 and a Metro Manila landline beginning 02 need different number formats.

Replace the domestic zero with +63

Each X stands for a digit in your phone number.

Mobile
Domestic format09XX XXX XXXX
International format+63 9XX XXX XXXX
Metro Manila landline
Domestic format02 XXXX XXXX
International format+63 2 XXXX XXXX

The country code replaces the domestic access zero; it does not replace the area code or a digit within the subscriber number. If the contact already supplies +63, do not add another 63 or put a 0 after it.

An old Manila number needs a fresh check

Metro Manila landlines using area code 02 moved to eight-digit local numbers in 2019. If a saved contact has an old seven-digit local number, check its current version with the recipient or the organisation’s official website.

Do not simply put 8 in front of an old number. The added digit depends on the provider. Confirm the current eight-digit local number before converting it to +63 format.

Outside Metro Manila, keep the right area code

A landline outside the 02 area needs its own area code and current local number. Ask for the complete international format instead of applying Manila’s length rule to another city.

For a bank, public office or business, start with its official contact page. A domestic toll-free or special-service number may need a separate overseas alternative. Changing its prefix alone does not prove that an international calling service can reach it.

If you need help finding an overseas contact, read calling a bank from abroad.

Check the method and price before you pay

An app-to-app call is an option if both people can use the same app. For an ordinary Philippine mobile or landline, compare your US carrier’s international tariff with a phone-number calling service. Check number type, billing increments and any plan renewal terms.

Parlacall’s quote below checks the full +63 number. A published starting rate does not establish the cost of every Philippine number. If there is no quote or the service reports a block, use another contact method rather than adding more credit.

Compare international calling methods if you are deciding between an app, carrier plan and browser service.

Check the rate for your number

Enter your full +63 number without the domestic leading zero. The quote shows the number type, available calling modes and price per minute.

Parlacall connects a browser call to an ordinary phone number. You need internet access and microphone permission; the recipient doesn’t need Parlacall. Check availability before you add credit.

Questions before you call

Do I keep the zero in 09 or 02 after +63?

No. In these domestic formats, remove the leading 0 when you add +63. A mobile beginning 09 becomes +63 9; a Metro Manila number beginning 02 becomes +63 2 followed by its current local number.

Are all Philippine landlines eight digits?

Do not apply the Metro Manila 02 rule to every area. Check the area code and current local number for the place you are calling. The 2019 Metro Manila change is not a reason to add 8 to an unverified old number.

Can I call someone who does not have internet?

An ordinary supported mobile or landline call reaches the recipient through their telephone service. For Parlacall browser calling, the caller needs internet and microphone access; the recipient does not need Parlacall.
