When Google Voice is the better choice
You're US-based, you mostly call the US and Canada, and you want a free second number with voicemail. That's Google Voice's home turf — use it. Parlacall earns its keep when the signup wall, the account risk, or the country you're calling gets in the way.
Questions people actually ask
Can I use Google Voice outside the US?
- You can keep using an existing US-created account while traveling. You can't sign up from outside the US — new accounts need a US number and US presence.
What happens to my Google Voice number if my account is suspended?
- It can be lost with the account; recovery goes through Google's appeal process. Parlacall can't rescue a GV number — but your wallet here isn't tied to your email account.
Do I need a phone number to sign up for Parlacall?
- No. Email signup, calls from the browser.
Is Google Voice cheaper than Parlacall?
- Sometimes — it depends on the destination, and on whether Google Voice works for you at all. We publish every rate so you can compare before you load anything.
Can Parlacall receive texts or 2FA codes?
- Not yet — today our rentable US numbers carry your caller ID on outbound calls. If receiving texts is the job right now, Google Voice or a US-number provider fits better.
